the process

the process

  • No. In fact, we cringe when people call our piercing instrument a gun. Unlike our specially engineered, hand-pressured instrument, piercing guns are spring-loaded and LOUD. Piercing guns "shoot" the piercing earring through the lobe. Our human-powered instrument is designed to pierce the ear quickly and accurately in one smooth, quiet, hand-pressured motion. Our device is an FDA-approved class 1 medical device. in fact, this device is so gentle and sterile that it is used in pediatrician's offices.

  • Yes! All of our earrings are hypoallergenic and meet the regulations for children's jewelry for the strictest policies in California, Chicago, and Europe. The earrings come in a wide range of hypoallergenic metal choices including, medical-grade stainless steel and medical-grade titanium.

  • Yes! For our comfort (& your kiddo's too) we require that they are age 5 or older, able to verbally consent to the procedure, and understand the aftercare process. Your child will also need to be able to sit still during the procedure unassisted. We do not allow you to hold your child in your lap, or to restrain them during the process.

  • It is important to note that all sales are final on our piercing service.

Once we open the sterile earring package, we consider it a final sale as we are not able to utilize that earring in the future.

care FAQ

care FAQ

  • The average healing time is 6 weeks for an earlobe piercing and 12 weeks for a cartilage piercing. We recommend leaving your piercing earrings in and following your aftercare instructions for the entire healing period.

  • Redness, soreness, swelling, oozing clear or white liquid, crusting, peeling, slight bleeding, bump around the piercing site.

  • A very hot feeling and extreme pain. Usually a bright-colored discharge (typically green or brown) with a strong odor to it.

If you have any of the following symptoms, it's advised that you seek medical attention: severe redness, pain, pus drainage (pus is typically a bright color, not white or clear), major swelling, abscess formation, and fever.

If you notice any of the above issues, apply triple antibiotic cream, if issues persist, it is best to see a medical professional. Do not remove the piercing if there is an active infection without seeking medical advice.

  • 1. Wash your hands before touching or cleaning your piercing. Touching with dirty fingers is an easy way to get a piercing infected. Despite what you may have heard, you do not need to rotate or twist your jewelry during healing. Unless you are cleaning your piercing, keep your hands off!

    2. Check your jewelry. Any jewelry should be checked occasionally (with clean hands) to make sure those earring backs are fastened.

    3. Keep your jewelry in. While your piercing is healing, keep jewelry in at all times. After your piercing is healed you can change your jewelry, but jewelry should never be left out for longer than the time it takes to insert a new piece. If you must remove your jewelry temporarily after healing, such as for work or surgery, there are less visible (and non-metal) alternatives that can be worn for short periods of time.

    4. Follow your aftercare. We recommend using the provided aftercare solution or a saline solution 3 times a day for 6-12 weeks to ensure the best healing. Cleanse immediately after swimming, exercising, applying hair products, or perfume.

    5. Be mindful of the earrings you wear. We recommend only wearing items from our collection for the first year. Do not wear heavy earrings for 6 months to a year after your piercing has healed.

  • It is important to note that all sales are final on our piercing service. During the piercing, we mark the area and have you sign off on the location. We are unable to refund.

If you are unhappy with the placement of your new piercing, please use the contact form below to discuss options.

  • Everybody heals at a different rate. It is important to note that as we move up the ear, piercings can take longer to heal, and are more likely to 'reject'. This is normal. If the piercing is inflamed or showing signs of abnormal healing outlined above, remove the piercing and continue aftercare until the skin is healed. If you would like, we can try the service again once the ear is fully healed.
